Delivery Driver I (CDL A) - Rental Equipment

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Delivery Driver I (CDL A) for its rental equipment business, based in Seattle. The driver operates medium to heavy-duty pickup trucks with delivery trailers, delivers rental equipment to customers and trains them on its basic use. The schedule is Monday to Friday with overtime as needed, home 95% of nights, no long hauls, and door-to-door pay. Candidates must live within a 20-mile radius of Seattle.

Key responsibilities

• Document work with the company technology platform, obtain signatures on rental contracts and stay current on local licensing and safety requirements.
• Help deploy new equipment to stores, including pre-delivery inspections, delivery and training store associates, and complete check-in and check-out procedures.
• Maintain accurate parts and fleet inventories through proper documentation.
• Drive a semi tractor-trailer with a 53' flatbed trailer and a class 7 straight truck to deliver equipment, loading and unloading it securely and showing customers how to use it safely.

Required profile

• Legally permitted to work in the United States and at least 21 years old.
• Valid Class A CDL and a valid DOT medical card.
• 1 year of commercial motor vehicle driving experience in the last 5 years and a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Resides within 20 miles of Seattle.

Required skills

• Driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers and towable construction equipment, including safe load securement and tie-downs.
• Knowledge of local roads and use of maps and directions for efficient routing.
• Understanding of Motor Carrier Safety regulations and DOT guidelines.
• Working knowledge of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet).

Preferred qualifications include experience in the equipment rental industry, one year operating a commercial motor vehicle with a flatbed trailer, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents is $27-$33.
