Deli Lead

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Deli Lead in Loveland. The Deli Lead provides direction on operations, processes and conditions of the deli area, plans and guides team members in day-to-day work, sets an example through an exceptional customer experience and helps achieve department goals.

Key responsibilities

• Engage peers to deliver the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members so customer service and sales goals are exceeded, the area meets Meijer standards and required trainings are completed.
• Support training of new team members and cross-train high-potential talent; provide peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards.
• Work with leadership on department scheduling to improve engagement, customer service, store sales and profitability.
• Monitor rotation and dating policies to ensure product freshness.
• Guide the team in complying with food safety standards and regulations and working safely.
• Lead team members in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product display where applicable.
• Actively support the Meijer culture, including diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed, operate powered equipment where applicable, and take part in period-end inventories where applicable.
• May be required to act in a lead capacity in other departments of the store.

Required profile

• Retail or other customer service experience preferred.
• Passion for customer service, with approachability toward customers and teammates.
• Initiates interactions with customers and peers.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product.
• Commitment to an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued.
