DDR Functional Validation Engineer

About the role

NXP is hiring a DDR Functional Validation Engineer in Austin (Oakhill) to join an SoC validation team. The engineer performs LPDDR/DDR functional validation of various SoC products, including controller-level and subsystem-level directed or stress testing on pre-silicon emulation models and post-silicon validation boards, and LPDDR interface and protocol validation under process, voltage and temperature conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare setups, run tests, collect data and summarize results.
• Develop test plans from design specifications, write test content, run tests, collect results and debug failures.
• Debug issues, improve test coverage and document observations under team guidance.
• Work with design, systems and software teams to understand expected behavior and help resolve issues.
• Maintain validation plans, reports and technical records.
• Collaborate with validation partners and customers such as designers, verification and software teams and product engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in validation or related SoC fields for Senior Principal, 10-15 years for Principal.
• Experience in LPDDR4/5 and DDR5.
• Ability to lead a team technically and strong communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Strong C programming skills.
• Hands-on lab work with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers and related software.
• Engineering fundamentals, problem solving, testing and technical documentation.
