DC Area Supervisor

About the role

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to run the distribution center efficiently, safely and productively. The role handles management responsibilities for 20 to 30 hourly associates, including hiring, evaluation, development, discipline and termination. It typically reports to the Operations Manager and involves occasional overnight travel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage process: ensure operations procedures are followed, recommend changes to the Operations Manager or Assistant General Manager, and improve efficiency
• Coach and develop associates: train, coach and evaluate hourly staff, resolve performance issues, and handle hiring, compensation, discipline and terminations
• Investigate operational errors and recommend corrective action
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control, and review reports on productivity, accuracy, quality and expenses
• Plan staffing needs and coordinate operations so production rates match the business plan
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Flexibility to work various shifts and ability to relocate
• High school diploma or GED; preferred: Bachelor's degree
• Preferred: 3+ years of supervisory experience in a related field
• Physical requirements include intermittent periods of continuous exertion such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing and lifting material or equipment

Required skills

• Preferred: computer skills in software including Microsoft Office
• Preferred: experience with warehouse management systems
• Preferred: leadership competencies in people management, financial acumen, creative thinking, business communication, conflict management and operations systems
