DC Area Supervisor

About the role

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to run the distribution center efficiently, safely and productively. The role handles management responsibilities for 20 to 30 hourly associates, including hiring, evaluation, development, discipline and termination, and ensures merchandise is handled promptly, efficiently and accurately. It reports to the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage process: ensure operations procedures are followed, recommend changes to the Operations Manager or Assistant General Manager, and identify inefficiencies.
• Coach and develop associates: train, coach and evaluate hourly associates, resolve performance issues, investigate operational errors and handle hiring, compensation, discipline and terminations.
• Drive results: maintain inventory accuracy and control, and review reports on productivity, accuracy, quality and expenses.
• Business planning: coordinate operations so production rates match the business plan, and plan staffing needs from business metrics.
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and ability to relocate.
• Physical requirements: intermittent periods of continuous exertion such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing and lifting material or equipment, some heavy or awkward.
• Working conditions: indoors, with unpleasant conditions being infrequent.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Computer skills in software including Microsoft Office.
• Experience with warehouse management systems.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a related field.

For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents, the pay range is $70,000 - $80,000.
