Day Stocker

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Day Stocker in its Wausau grocery store. The role helps keep shelves full, organized and ready for customers during the day, from unloading trucks and rotating product to assisting shoppers and keeping the store tidy. It is an hourly, physically demanding, hands-on position with support from the Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers and Service Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and help them find what they need
• Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers and rotate product
• Check for mis-picked items, product outs and wrong deliveries and report issues
• Organize stock efficiently, clean and restock damaged items, tag overstock and understock, and report new items to the scanning coordinator
• Operate the register as needed and stock supplies such as cigarettes, front-end sacks and department supplies
• Help with outside maintenance (snow, ice melt, cart return) and cleaning (registers, restrooms, breakroom, backroom)
• Train new stockers and maintain compliance with dress code, hygiene standards and company policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Up to six months of similar or related experience preferred; no prior experience needed as training is provided
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, communicate clearly with customers and teammates, stay organized and keep up with a busy pace
• Basic math skills including fractions, decimals and percentages

Employment is contingent on a successful pre-employment drug screen. The work environment involves standing and walking throughout a shift, exposure to dirt, noise, cleaning chemicals, temperature extremes and heavy equipment, and safety training is provided.
