Data Science Manager – AI for Science

About the role

As a Data Science Manager at RELX (Elsevier), you will lead high‑performing teams that build AI systems to accelerate scientific discovery, improve healthcare outcomes, and expand human knowledge. You will shape the strategy and execution of advanced machine‑learning, search, NLP and generative‑AI solutions that power research‑intelligence products used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop teams of data scientists, machine‑learning engineers, researchers and technical contributors.
• Define and execute data‑science strategies that advance scientific discovery and knowledge‑access products.
• Drive AI‑powered capabilities across search, retrieval, recommendation, NLP, knowledge graphs and generative AI.
• Translate complex scientific and business challenges into scalable, measurable data‑science solutions.
• Establish standards for experimentation, model quality, reliability and responsible AI practices.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, UX, Analytics and domain experts to shape product strategy.
• Mentor team members and foster a culture of scientific rigor, collaboration and continuous learning.
