System Test Automation Engineer Internship – Summer 2027

Philips is offering a paid 3‑6 month internship in San Diego, CA for Summer 2027 as a System Test Automation Engineer. Interns will work in a fast‑paced R&D environment developing automated test frameworks, software tools and AI‑powered testing solutions for medical‑device software. The role involves designing and enhancing automation scripts using languages such as C#.NET, Azure, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, Java, JavaScript, Go and React, maintaining source control with Git or Azure DevOps, and setting up test environments that include hardware, software and networking configurations. Interns will execute automated test suites, analyse results, troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues, and collaborate with developers, systems engineers and test engineers to validate defects and accelerate issue resolution. The position also provides exposure to AI agents, generative AI and machine‑learning technologies applied to test automation. Candidates must have at least three years of study toward a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field, and a strong interest in software quality, test automation and medical‑device development. The internship is office‑based, requiring onsite presence at least three days per week, and offers an hourly rate of $29‑$36 for Bachelor‑level students or $33‑$46 for Master‑level students, with overtime eligibility. US work authorization is required.
