Data Engineer Manager – Data Governance Lead

About the role

Our top customer is looking for a strategic Data Engineer Manager to own the governance, organization, and operational management of data assets across Engineering and Data Science teams. The role is fully onsite in Fort Wayne, IN, and will ensure data is reliable, accessible, and aligned with business goals to power analytics and machine‑learning initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data governance, quality, and metadata management across the organization.
• Design and maintain data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed data systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and data‑science teams to enable advanced analytics and ML workflows.
• Manage cloud‑based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and services such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
• Mentor and develop a team of data engineers and analysts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data management, data engineering, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, R, or Scala).
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
• Deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
• Familiarity with machine‑learning workflows and the data‑science lifecycle.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $140,000 per year.
