Data Engineer

About the role

Raft is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Distributed Systems team. You will help build and operate data platforms that enable multiple user personas to access centralized data, working closely with technical subject‑matter experts from government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services for data platform ingestion, processing, and delivery.
• Integrate open‑source projects such as DuckDB, Apache Pinot, and Apache Superset in a repeatable, performant manner.
• Collaborate with government SMEs to configure, deploy, and maintain mission‑critical data solutions.
• Support data streaming pipelines and assist with data transformation workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, version control, and basic DevOps practices.

Required profile

• 2+ years of backend development experience using Java, Go, or Python.
• Basic understanding of data streaming concepts; Kafka experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and effective communication skills.
• Willingness to learn government datasets and stay current with data‑engineering trends.
