Data Center Administrator

About the role

SpaceX is seeking a Data Center Administrator to join its infrastructure team. You will be responsible for installing, managing, and optimizing server, network, and power systems across multiple data center locations, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve operational, infrastructure, and hardware incidents in multiple data centers.
• Manage the full lifecycle of data center hardware, from deployment to decommission.
• Physically rack, cable, and organize equipment, maintaining accurate port maps and rack layouts.
• Perform quality‑assurance testing, schedule maintenance, and document processes.
• Monitor environmental conditions, power, and cooling systems to keep them within optimal ranges.
• Run hardware diagnostics, replace failing components, and upgrade CPUs, memory, and storage.
• Set up and operate Linux and Windows servers, and maintain event logs.
• Collaborate with purchasing on procurement of new equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 1+ year of data‑center experience, or 3+ years of experience without a degree.
• Professional experience working directly in a data center or with IT hardware.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Required skills

• Linux and Windows server administration.
• Rack and cable management, port‑map documentation.
• Hardware diagnostics and component replacement.
• Power and cooling capacity planning.
• Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, CCNP (preferred).
