About the role
The Data Analyst, FP&A will act as the bridge between Accounts Payable and Financial Planning & Analysis for a fast‑growing restaurant brand. You will validate departmental spend, compare it to approved budgets, and support minor forecasting to help keep costs under control.
Key responsibilities
- Review and validate invoices, receipts, and expense reports against budget allocations.
- Analyze spending trends for IT, Marketing, Design, Construction, and new store openings.
- Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies and cost‑optimization opportunities.
- Provide short‑term forecasts for expense run‑rates, capital expenditures, and store‑opening budgets.
- Reconcile AP data with the FP&A planning system to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Collaborate with department heads to communicate findings and recommend expense‑management improvements.
- Apply hospitality‑industry knowledge (unit economics, corporate vs. operational spend) to contextualize analyses.
- Support ad‑hoc data requests and special projects for finance leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
- 3‑5 years of experience in an analytical, finance or accounting role, preferably in restaurant or hospitality.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large data sets.
Required skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with financial/ERP systems such as Restaurant365 (R365), Toast, Netsuite.
