Dance Instructor

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part‑time Dance Instructor to develop and lead dance classes for youth and teens in various styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop. The role offers flexible scheduling with 5‑10 hours per week, primarily on Saturday mornings and afternoons, and may include additional time for performances.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver dance instruction across multiple styles, creating engaging lessons for different age groups.
• Develop and coordinate dance routines in collaboration with other instructors.
• Provide technique feedback, foster skill growth, and maintain a positive, safe environment.
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure compliance with YMCA child‑protection policies.
• Maintain accurate class rosters and assist with curriculum development.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with youth and teens.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (provided within 90 days).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb and physically demonstrate dance movements.
• Afternoon and weekend morning availability preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more dance forms (e.g., Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop).
• Strong coordination and ability to teach movement techniques.
