Damage Prevention Technician

About the role

Bermex, a provider of meter reading and utility services, is hiring a full-time Damage Prevention Technician in Greece, NY. The technician reports to the Operations Lead and plays a key role in safety and quality while driving, parking and auditing marked gas lines. The work involves a high level of physical activity and exposure to a wide range of weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Code Rule 753 and follow strict utility, state and federal damage prevention guidelines
• Wear assigned PPE and company uniform, and follow safety, quality and operational procedures
• Take part in safety meetings and complete work orders on assigned dates
• Drive to marked gas lines and visit third-party excavation sites and construction zones regularly
• Hand out educational materials to excavators and collect data with a handheld tablet or similar device
• Show courtesy to customers and employees, and report equipment and vehicle issues immediately
• Provide regular reports to management, escalate issues to the supervisor, communicate with dispatchers and keep a satisfactory attendance record

Required profile

• At least 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license
• Enjoys working outdoors and working with customers
