Damage Prevention Technician (DOT Gas Lines)

About the role

Bermex, a provider of meter reading and utility services, is hiring a Certified Damage Prevention Technician in Henrietta, NY. The technician reports to the Operations Lead and plays a key role in safety and quality while driving, parking and performing audits on marked gas lines. The work involves a high level of physical activity and a wide range of weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Code Rule 753 and follow strict utility, state and federal damage prevention guidelines
• Wear assigned PPE and company uniform, and follow safety, quality and operational procedures
• Take part in safety meetings and complete work orders on assigned dates
• Visit third-party excavation sites and construction zones regularly, collect data with a handheld tablet or similar device, and hand out educational materials to excavators
• Treat customers and colleagues courteously and travel to sites occasionally
• Provide regular reports and escalate issues to the supervisor, keep a satisfactory attendance record, and report equipment and vehicle issues immediately
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean and communicate with dispatchers

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 21 years old
• Valid driver's license
• One year of continuous work with the same employer, or six months working outdoors
• Enjoys working outdoors and with customers
