Dairy Frozen Team Leader

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Dairy Frozen Team Leader in McHenry who plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the dairy frozen department. The leader mentors and coaches the team, drives customer service and sales while keeping the area clean and meeting company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise daily operations of the department and act as mentor and coach for team members.
• Ensure courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, and maintain a positive company image.
• Staff, select and hire to meet staffing needs, promote succession planning and take part in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed.
• Be responsible for the P&L, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink.
• Mentor and coach the team so that customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area meets Meijer standards.
• Make sure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations, and promote a safe work environment.
• Spend most of the time in the store with customers and team members, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational experience in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.

Required skills

• Clear communication and conflict resolution, with attention to root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyse financial and statistical information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling and to mentor team members, including hourly workers and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
