Dairy Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Dairy Clerk in Omaha (Nebraska). The role covers rotating and replenishing dairy merchandise while keeping the highest quality standards, and delivering courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. It is non-exempt and reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Store Operations, Perishables and Health Wellness Home, and the Dairy Department Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service: greet customers, learn their names, escort them to products, load or unload heavy items, and answer the telephone.
• Rotate and replenish merchandise, face merchandise, build end caps and fill displays, and order product requested by the department manager.
• Unload trucks and place product in the right storage area, keeping the area organized, the floor dry and the temperature correct.
• Keep the department clean, sweep floors and clean cases, and follow hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Take part in monthly and quarterly physical inventories, check invoices against delivered product, and help in other store areas as needed.

Required profile

• Less than high school education or equivalent, and six months or less of similar or related experience.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly, and to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull and grasp.
• Clear vision within 20 inches to 20 feet, with or without correction, and depth perception.
• Ability to solve practical problems, follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, and do simple addition and subtraction.

Working conditions include continuous exposure to noise and temperature extremes, dirt and dampness, and occasional equipment hazards. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen.
