Cytogenetics Technologist Lead – Full Time

About the role

The UHealth Laboratories Department at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Cytogenetics Technologist Lead. This senior position combines advanced cytogenetic testing with technical leadership to ensure high‑quality laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic analyses.
• Oversee daily workflow, assign tasks, and monitor turnaround times.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback to laboratory technologists.
• Review test results for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance before reporting.
• Develop, validate, and implement new testing procedures and methodologies.
• Maintain equipment performance records and ensure proper maintenance documentation.
• Manage reagent and supply inventories for the assigned laboratory area.
• Support CAP surveys, proficiency testing, inspections, and other regulatory activities.
• Contribute to SOP updates, laboratory manual revisions, and operational planning initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum five years of cytogenetics or molecular pathology experience.
• Valid State of Florida Molecular Pathology Technologist license.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and coordinate laboratory workflow.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
