Cybersecurity Engineer – Digital Solutions

About the role

ABB is seeking a Digital Cybersecurity Engineer to coordinate and facilitate the development, implementation, and onboarding of digital security solutions for its Process Automation Energy Industries Division in North America. Based in Cleveland, OH, you will work in a hybrid model supporting customers’ operational technology environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support to customers, helping them apply cybersecurity solutions that enhance the security and resilience of OT environments.
• Execute and support the implementation of cybersecurity solutions, ensuring timely and cost‑effective project delivery.
• Provide training and ongoing support throughout the solution lifecycle, from onboarding to post‑deployment.
• Collaborate with sales and technical teams to understand customer requirements and demonstrate how ABB’s cybersecurity offerings address operational challenges.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in industrial automation or OT environments (7+ years preferred).
• Strong understanding of OT security best practices and frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO/IEC 2700x.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, ISA/IEC 62443) are preferred.
• US citizenship or work authorization and willingness to travel up to 75%.
• Commitment to safe work practices and workplace safety guidelines.

Required skills

• ICS/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, etc.).
• OT security frameworks (IEC 62443, NIST, ISO/IEC 2700x).
• Cybersecurity fundamentals: risk assessments, access control, incident response, vulnerability management.
• Experience with cyber platforms such as AV solutions, backup and recovery, and network monitoring.
• Patching strategies for OT systems.
