Cybersecurity Engineer – Active Security Clearance Required

About the role

Viasat is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join a small, fast‑paced team responsible for protecting ground networks that support global satellite communications. The role focuses on continuous security monitoring and vulnerability management within the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Key responsibilities

• Administer and configure the vulnerability scanning platform (preferably Tenable Nessus) and develop automation for scanning and reporting.
• Perform vulnerability scans, analyse results, and communicate findings to system owners and stakeholders.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of vulnerabilities, remediation actions, security packages, and overall program status.
• Keep an up‑to‑date inventory of system assets, hardware/software lists, and details of ports, protocols, and services.
• Collaborate with Information Assurance, network engineering, and Security Operations Center teams to ensure full visibility of the network security posture.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, information assurance, or secure systems/network administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• U.S. citizenship with an active United States Secret clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % of the time.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with vulnerability scanning tools, preferably Tenable Nessus.
• Strong knowledge of common security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
• Solid understanding of IP networking, secure communication protocols, and basic router, switch, and firewall configuration.
• Familiarity with RMF continuous monitoring activities.
• Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) technologies.
