Cyber Security Analyst- Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Analyst‑Engineer to provide technical expertise in analyzing, evaluating, and improving our information and physical security systems. The role supports the laboratory’s mission by delivering innovative cyber solutions and ensuring robust protection of critical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cyber‑technical analyses, investigate incidents, and evaluate security controls.
• Maintain and support core cybersecurity toolsets, ensuring health, policy alignment, and effective operation across the enterprise.
• Apply and enforce STIGs and SRGs, perform vulnerability assessments, and manage SIEM platforms such as Splunk.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, mentor junior staff, and drive continuous improvement of security processes.
• Develop and implement security architectures, including Zero Trust models, and support risk management and cloud security initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 7‑9 years of cybersecurity and cyber engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE security clearance.
• At least one general cybersecurity certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+) and one technical certification (e.g., GCIH, CEH, Splunk, Tenable).
• Strong understanding of security architectures, encryption standards, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network security protocols.
