Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration (PRN)

About the role

R1 is a revenue cycle technology company serving hospitals, health systems and medical groups. It is hiring a Customer Service Representative for patient registration at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida. The position is PRN (part time, as needed) with no fixed schedule, and requires day, evening, overnight, holiday and weekend availability, including up to 12-hour shifts and a rotating on-call schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for patients, helping them check in and register efficiently across multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Minimise delays in registration so patients get timely access to care
• Work with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• No healthcare background is required; training is provided
• PRN availability for all shifts, including holidays and weekends

Required skills

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism under pressure
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and pay close attention to detail
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus

What we offer

• Base pay of $16.00 - $21.10 per hour, depending on role, level, location and experience
• Training in healthcare administration and patient access, and exposure to revenue cycle and insurance processes
• Cross-training in multiple departments and locations as needed
