Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a Customer Service Representative for its Patient Registration team at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. The role helps patients check into the hospital by answering questions during registration, collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. It is a PRN position with 48 hours a month required, 24 hours on call, and afternoons, weekends and holidays; open availability is offered to train on day shift 8am to 4pm.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient and insurance information in a busy environment
• Collect details across multiple screens, entering them correctly between physician and nurse check-ins
• Work across multiple programs and type quickly, even when clinicians interrupt for emergent care
• Listen carefully to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport
• Assist patients on their feet to complete registration, dealing with varied health plans and coverage

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service experience
• No previous healthcare experience needed; training is provided
• Must be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test and a background check before hire
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital/lab setting

The base pay range is $16.12 - $23.21 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
