Customer Service Associate

About the role

The Customer Service Associate ensures a welcoming checkout experience, builds customer confidence, and handles transactions accurately and courteously in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Create a friendly atmosphere that makes customers feel valued and appreciated.
• Address and resolve customer issues or complaints promptly, escalating to management when necessary.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, processing cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and other payment types.
• Maintain financial responsibility for the register, adhering to cash shortage/overage limits and loss‑prevention guidelines.
• Stock front‑end products, manage self‑checkout lanes, and ensure all equipment is functional.
• Assist in training new cashiers and support lane management according to service standards.
• Follow safety, food‑handling, and regulatory compliance procedures, including product recalls and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Professional demeanor with composure when handling customer interactions.
• Strong attention to detail and honesty in cash handling.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist teammates and train new staff.
• Ability to follow company policies on restricted items and safety standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS system operation.
• Basic computer troubleshooting (self‑help tools or help‑desk contact).
