Customer Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor equipment while providing technical support and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand roadmaps, process flows, and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
