CT Technologist

About the role

The CT Technologist I (CT Tech) at Zangmeister Cancer Center reports directly to the Radiology Team Lead. The role involves interpreting physician orders, administering contrast materials and preparing and operating CT scanners to obtain proper images, while ensuring patient safety through ALARA principles and accepted standards of care.

Key responsibilities

• Identify the correct patient, escort patients to the scan room, position them on the scanner table and acquire diagnostically acceptable images
• Explain the CT scan procedure and its risks to patients and families, and observe patients for reactions to contrast injections
• Document image acquisition in the patient's electronic medical record and report deviations from prescribed scans to the Radiology Team Lead and/or radiologist
• Perform and document daily and weekly quality assurance checklists for CT equipment and participate in quality improvement programs
• Maintain active CT certification (ARRT) and state license where required, and keep CE units up to date
• Assist with transporting patients, reviewing charts, ordering supplies, submitting Superbill charges and training new employees

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited CT Technology school or similar; a BS in Radiology Technology or a related field is preferred
• Certified as a Registered CT Technologist by the ARRT, with a state CT license where applicable
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Fluent English; Spanish is desirable
• At least one year of active CT Technologist experience, or eligibility to sit for the CT registry exam within 6 months of hire
