CT Technologist II

About the role

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is hiring a full-time day-shift CT Technologist II to perform CT imaging procedures that help diagnose and treat patients. The role also covers clerical duties and basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards, and may include dual CT/XR functions, IR procedures or other duties at the department's discretion.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-quality CT examinations according to provider orders and departmental protocols, reviewing patient history and clinical information before each exam.
• Prepare and administer IV contrast material safely and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
• Position patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when needed, while maintaining radiation safety and ALARA principles.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Educate patients about the exam and complete exams in a timely manner to minimize empty table time.
• Follow infection control standards, use approved PPE and disinfectants, and follow patient identification, informed consent and time-out procedures.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1+ year of related work experience.
• ARRT CT certification and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required; additional licensure or certification may apply depending on the unit or state.
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CT procedures, scanners and workstations, and of PACS (preferred).
• Ability to learn and use radiology software, scanners, workstations, EMR and reconstruction/post-processing tools.
• Basic IV competency and ability to assess and place IVs for contrast studies (preferred).
• Ability to complete exams within ED/Observation turnaround time goals.
