CRO Engineer - A/B Testing Lead

About the role

Avis Budget Group is looking for a Lead CRO Engineer to lead the technical effort for its CRO and Experimentation team, building and QA-ing experiments across web and app for Avis.com and Budget.com. Reporting to the Director, Global CRO and Experimentation, the role owns that every experiment is built and validated correctly, whether done directly or coordinated with internal IT, the IT/QA team or third-party partners. It works closely with CRO managers, designers, analysts, product management and IT/QA.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the build and QA of A/B and multivariate tests across regions globally, and build experiment variants from approved designs on web and app
• Ensure experiments are implemented accurately and tracked correctly from launch, regardless of who executed the work
• Build simple front-end variations and more complex, multi-page or personalization-driven experiences
• Direct and coordinate third-party delivery partners so their work meets the same tracking and QA standards as internal builds
• Coordinate with internal IT on complex technical builds and troubleshoot live-experiment issues
• Own QA for every experiment: implement and validate tracking and tagging before launch, coordinate regression and cross-site testing, and monitor active experiments for conflicts
• Work with CRO managers on priorities, timelines and tracking setup, partner with UX and design, and support the handoff of successful tests to Product Management
• Stay current with testing platforms and tools, and suggest process or tooling improvements

Required profile

• Hands-on experience building A/B and multivariate tests in Adobe Target, Optimizely or a comparable platform
• Experience directing or coordinating other engineers or delivery partners, not just working alone
• Familiarity with tagging and analytics implementation (e.g. GA4, Adobe Analytics, tag management systems)
• Detail-oriented with a strong QA mindset, able to own QA outcomes even when others execute the build
• Comfortable coordinating across internal teams, product engineering and external partners, with strong organization for concurrent builds

Required skills

• HTML, CSS and JavaScript enough to build and troubleshoot front-end experiment variations
• Familiarity with experimentation on web and app platforms, or strong aptitude to learn app-based testing

The annual starting salary is $115,000 - $125,000, depending on geography, market, skills, education and experience.
