Critical Care Technician – Emergency Department (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Per Diem Critical Care Technician to support the Emergency Department. The role involves direct patient care, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with clinical staff to ensure safe and effective treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and clean all equipment, including IV pumps, glucometers and ultrasound machines, using hospital‑approved disinfectants.
• Collect vital signs, specimens (stool, urine, sputum) and transport them to the laboratory.
• Assist patients with positioning, ambulation, and simple wound care while adhering to universal precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms for procedures, ensure supplies are stocked, and accompany patients to exam rooms.
• Monitor medication refrigerator temperature, maintain logs and report deviations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical experience.
• Certification requirements per department (e.g., EMT/PMD, BLS‑CPR, ACLS, PALS).
