Criminal Investigator – Organized Retail Crime (Entry Level)

About the role

The Office of the Attorney General’s Department of Law is seeking an entry‑level Criminal Investigator to join its Prosecution Division focused on Organized Retail Crime. You will support investigations, evidence collection, and case preparation that protect Georgia’s citizens and businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and investigate allegations of criminal wrongdoing within the agency’s jurisdiction.
• Conduct interviews of victims, witnesses, and suspects and gather intelligence information.
• Obtain, execute, and serve search and arrest warrants.
• Maintain chain of custody and evaluate physical and electronic evidence.
• Assist in asset identification and seizure when applicable.
• Prepare thorough investigative case reports and documentation.
• Present accurate courtroom testimony and coordinate pre‑trial activities with prosecutors.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate able to work under general supervision.
• Maintain professional knowledge of current trends in organized retail crime.
• Adhere to laws, guidelines, and policies governing evidence handling.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software for creating databases, spreadsheets, graphs, and presentations.
• Ability to produce detailed investigative reports in a timely manner.
