Court Security Officer – St. Croix, USVI

About the role

The Court Security Officer will provide armed security at courthouses in St. Croix under a USMS contract, safeguarding judges, court personnel, jurors and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Perform entrance control using security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband and prohibited items.
• Conduct roving patrols of court facilities and grounds in accordance with post orders.
• Staff stationary posts, monitor CCTV, duress alarms and other security systems, and guard courtrooms, judge chambers and jury rooms.
• Provide armed escort services for judges, court staff, jurors and other designated individuals.
• Direct traffic and manage pedestrian flow in parking areas and around the courthouse.
• Enforce federal law, detain unauthorized persons, and maintain order during proceedings.
• Prepare reports on incidents, labor hours, accidents, threats and other contract‑related events.
• Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect rooms before proceedings and test security devices.
• Maintain a security presence in courtrooms, enforce local court rules and protect the integrity of proceedings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum three (3) years of verifiable experience as a certified law‑enforcement officer or military equivalent within the last seven years.
• Valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
