About the role
The County Extension Agent – Agriculture provides educational programs and outreach to county residents, focusing on agriculture and 4‑H youth development. This professional‑staff position balances 70 % agricultural activities with 30 % 4‑H responsibilities, serving as a key link between the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and the local community.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct educational programs for county residents covering agriculture practices and 4‑H youth development.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Arkansas Extension programs and apply them to local needs.
- Serve as a liaison between the university, community leaders, agencies, and government officials to promote participation and support.
- Develop and deliver outreach activities, workshops, and resources that reflect the county’s social, economic, and political characteristics.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of the county’s social, economic and political environment.
- Experience or interest in agricultural education and 4‑H youth development.
- Ability to engage diverse audiences and build collaborative relationships.
- Commitment to the mission of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
