Corrections Clerk II

About the role

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Clerk II to work at the Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro, Illinois. The position is full time, salaried and union-covered, with an anticipated starting salary of $5,607 per month (range $5,607-$7,837). It is open to candidates who are authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Receive new individuals in custody into the facility
• Participate in preparing writs, transfers, furlough reports and paperwork for discharges and paroles
• Interview transferred individuals in custody to obtain information for the Master File
• Assist the supervisor in preparing reports
• Perform other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the above duties

Required profile

• Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to a high school diploma (four years)
• Two years of clerical experience (three preferred)
• Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check and a drug screen
• Completion of an approved guard-training course within six months of employment
• Ability to use digital tools and platforms for department efficiency
• Compliance with employer vaccine and medical standards

Preferred profile

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel or similar)
• Experience in a correctional setting, maintaining a complex filing system, assisting with reports, and enforcing disciplinary, safety, security and custodial measures
