Corporate Counsel, Supply Chain and International Trade

About the role

The Home Depot is looking for an attorney for a manager-level position in its International & Supply Chain group within the law department. The role advises and represents the company on international trade regulatory matters, mainly related to import activity, and may also support supply chain and logistics contract negotiations and the anti-bribery and FCPA compliance program. It supports the Associate General Counsel and involves regulatory and compliance counseling on tariff and trade matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prosecute and defend business and real estate claims and lawsuits, and collaborate with outside counsel.
• Advise departments and managers on a wide range of legal issues.
• Conduct legal research for pending matters and supervise it.
• Draft and file annual disclosure documents with government agencies, and manage and track budgets.
• Provide regulatory and compliance counseling on tariff and trade matters, and carry out other compliance and investigatory work.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school and required certifications to practice law.
• 7-12 years of experience as an international trade regulatory or similar attorney in a law firm or corporation; current in-house or law firm experience with significant import regulatory work is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication and analytical skills.
• Legal areas of specialization include business law, real estate law, employee relations, litigation, general liability and mergers and acquisitions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Supply chain contract negotiation, FCPA compliance and supply chain regulatory experience are a plus.
• Experience with supply chain visibility, due diligence and risk, and managing complex international trade regulatory audits.
• Ability to vet and manage outside service providers and to manage numerous outside counsel.

Travel is typically under 10% overnight, and the work is mostly done indoors in a comfortable setting, with regular pressure to meet deadlines.
