Corporate Counsel II - Technology, AI and Privacy

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Corporate Counsel II focused on technology, AI and privacy. The position gives legal guidance and strategic support for company-wide compliance with privacy laws, regulations and policies, and advises on enterprise initiatives covering privacy, AI governance, data use, digital products, technology and cybersecurity. It works cross-functionally with privacy, cybersecurity, data governance, product, engineering, analytics and business teams, and acts as a key legal advisor on privacy, AI governance, privacy risk assessments and Privacy by Design.

Key responsibilities

• Budget management: compile, prepare and present budget recommendations and manage the budget for the area of responsibility.
• Legal matter management (about 40% of the role): handle legal matters, retain, monitor and evaluate outside counsel relationships and budgets, and conduct legal research for pending work.
• Negotiations (about 20%): independently conduct and direct negotiations for matters in the business area, with general supervisory review.
• Risk assessment and business guidance (about 30%): identify and assess risks, recommend changes to business partners and advise on the appropriate course of action.
• Team supervision (about 5%): may supervise Legal Specialists and/or Legal Coordinators, including directing work, selection, termination, performance appraisals and coaching.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of work experience, with 3+ years in privacy, AI, data governance and risk assessments preferred.
• Juris Doctor or equivalent and required certifications for practicing law.
• Legally permitted to work in the United States; must be 18 or older.
• Onsite role, 5 days a week, with typically less than 5% overnight travel.
