Core Facility Research Specialist (Level 1)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC is seeking a full‑time Core Facility Research Specialist 1 to support its revenue‑generating shared‑resource core facilities on the UHealth medical campus. The specialist will act as a liaison between the core director, lab supervisors, and research staff, ensuring smooth laboratory operations and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in operating and maintaining sophisticated scientific equipment.
• Help develop and document new core procedures.
• Ensure laboratory activities comply with regulatory policies and standard operating procedures.
• Review experimental results, record data in lab notebooks or databases, and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Evaluate supply needs, place orders, verify receipts, and manage stock levels.
• Support QA/QC activities and perform minor equipment repairs or coordinate service engineers.
• Acquire proficiency in new software, cloud tools, webforms, and databases as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• No prior experience required; ability to learn quickly.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff and researchers.
