Core Facility Research Specialist 3

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC seeks a full‑time Core Facility Research Specialist 3 to support its revenue‑generating Shared Resource (SR) core facilities on the UHealth campus. The specialist will execute complex research protocols, act as a liaison between the SR Director, lab supervisors, and users, and ensure smooth operation of laboratory equipment and compliance with regulatory policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage new projects from initiation to completion with minimal supervision.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated scientific equipment, performing minor repairs and coordinating service engineers as needed.
• Develop, test, and implement new core procedures and services.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, inventory logs, and database entries following SOPs.
• Perform QA/QC activities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Evaluate inventory needs, place orders, verify receipts, and manage stock levels.
• Train SR staff and users on equipment operation, procedures, and software applications.

• Professional, customer‑service oriented attitude when interacting with investigators, trainees, and staff.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Comfort with learning and applying complex laboratory techniques.
