Coordinator Surgery Special Unit

About the role

The Surgery/Special Unit Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and managing both scheduled and unscheduled procedures, admissions, and appointments, ensuring smooth operations within the unit.

Key responsibilities

• Validate patient demographic and physician information, and identify patients needing financial counseling.
• Tri­age appointments based on diagnosis, patient preferences, and physician specialty.
• Coordinate services, provide special instructions, and schedule intra‑ and inter‑departmentally per physician orders.
• Ensure accurate data entry, including CPT coding, case information, and proper documentation.
• Serve as liaison with the admitting office and act as a resource for surgeons, nurses, residents, and other staff.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of related experience in medical registration, billing, insurance processing, or OR scheduling, or three years of customer service concierge experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and proficiency with PC‑based systems.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lb, with normal or corrected vision.
