About the role

HEI, a leading civil construction company operating across several U.S. states, is seeking a creative Safety Coordinator to join its growing safety team. The role involves planning, implementing, and overseeing field safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, owner, and company safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with laws and company policies.
• Identify, document, and recommend corrective actions for hazardous conditions, and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
• Prepare detailed safety reports using internal management tools for field supervisors and project managers.
• Provide orientation for new hires and administer drug testing.
• Monitor main contractor and subcontractor safety programs, offering specific solutions to mitigate risks.
• Participate in pre‑planning and progress meetings to coordinate project‑specific safety protocols.
• Lead on‑site toolbox talks and safety committee meetings.
• Investigate site accidents, determine root causes, and propose process changes to prevent recurrence.
• Track medical treatment of injured employees, ensure timely return to work, and generate follow‑up injury reports.
• Oversee the site safety incentive program and perform safety data analysis.

Required profile

• Proactive and detail‑oriented professional with a strong commitment to safety.
• Experience conducting safety inspections and hazard assessments on construction sites.
• Ability to produce clear, concise safety documentation and reports.
• Strong communication skills for training, meetings, and investigations.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and owner safety regulations.
