Controls Technician II

About the role

This full‑time position supports a fast‑growing food manufacturing operation that produces well‑known retail brands. The Controls Technician II ensures the reliability and accuracy of electrical and mechanical instrumentation while driving automation improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical instrumentation across measuring, recording, and control systems.
• Program, modify, and manage PLC platforms (PLC5, SLC500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) using RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, and PanelView 32.
• Maintain and document industrial Ethernet networks, including IP mapping, switch configuration, and cable patching.
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical/mechanical issues, including ladder‑logic editing, I/O module replacement, voltage troubleshooting, and frequency‑drive programming.
• Develop and implement HMI applications, integrate new automation processes, upload/download PLC programs, and configure network protocols to optimize equipment performance.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of industrial controls experience.
• Proficiency in Ethernet networking, IP addressing, switch wiring, and cable patching for industrial systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of PLC platforms such as PLC5, SLC500, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix.
• Ability to lift up to 90 lb, obtain a forklift license, and follow OSHA, state, and company safety regulations.
