Controller – Finance Leader for Growing Service Business

About the role

We are a privately‑held, service‑based organization in the skilled‑trades sector, currently expanding after a recent acquisition. The Controller will own the full accounting lifecycle, partner with operational leaders, and help steer the company through system conversions and rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete accounting cycle: general ledger, journal entries, job costing, AR/AP, payroll coordination, and inventory accounting.
• Lead a 5‑day month‑end close and produce accurate financial statements and reports.
• Maintain full P&L responsibility and support budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management.
• Coordinate audits, tax activities, and partner on financial analysis for decision‑making.
• Drive system implementations, including ERP conversion to Sage Intacct and payroll migration to Paylocity.
• Help build scalable accounting infrastructure and plan future team expansion.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong hands‑on background with close, journal entries, and job costing.
• Experience in construction, trades, HVAC, plumbing, or other service‑based industries preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑growing, evolving environment.

• Base salary $130,000–$160,000 per year.
