Controller – Finance Leader for Consumer Products

About the role

The Controller will act as a senior financial leader for a multi‑channel consumer products company, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and the finance team. Partnering closely with executive leadership, the role provides insight to improve operational efficiency and support strategic decisions across a complex, inventory‑driven business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions including General Ledger, AP, AR, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Prepare financial analyses, operating reports, and executive‑level reporting packages.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with operations, supply chain, sales, and inventory teams to analyze inventory performance, costing, and gross‑margin trends.
• Oversee inventory accounting and cost analysis across multiple product categories and channels.
• Develop financial models, KPIs, and performance metrics to support operational decisions.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital planning, banking relationships, and financing compliance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering professional growth.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives for systems, reporting, and processes.
• Coordinate annual audits, maintain external auditor relationships, and ensure tax compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, preferably in inventory‑driven, consumer‑products or wholesale environments.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams and influence senior leadership.
