Controller – Accounting Leadership at Private Club

About the role

Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Controller to lead its accounting function. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will own the monthly close, financial reporting, and team development while partnering with department leaders across the elite private‑club environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the monthly financial close, delivering accurate statements and reports on schedule.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, including the Assistant Controller, Payroll, AR/AP staff.
• Collaborate with department heads to review results, analyze variances, and enforce financial discipline.
• Improve and standardize workflows, internal controls, and reporting processes.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management, and capital‑tracking initiatives.
• Lead the annual audit and 401(k) audit, acting as primary liaison with external auditors.

Required profile

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Prior private‑club experience is essential.
• Proven ability to thrive in a complex, high‑volume environment.
• Strong leadership, clear‑thinking, and goal‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Jonas GL and POS systems (strong plus).
• CPA designation preferred.
