Controller – Accounting Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for our client in Sarasota, Florida. The role provides reliable financial oversight, supports strategic planning, and ensures compliance across all financial activities.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive decision‑making.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and analysis of financial trends.
• Manage sales tax filings and ensure timely compliance with reporting deadlines.
• Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local financial regulations.
• Establish and strengthen internal accounting controls to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for year‑end audit preparation.
• Support related financial administration such as insurance, bonding, and banking relationships.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience with leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of core accounting operations, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Proven experience ensuring compliance with tax obligations and multi‑jurisdictional regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls.
• Experience coordinating with outside auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and analytical judgment.
