Content Writer Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a content writer intern for its Marketing department at the Grimes office for the summer of 2027. It suits students studying journalism, communications, marketing, advertising, English or a related field who want hands-on experience writing for a large consumer brand. The intern helps the creative marketing team write clear, engaging, on-brand copy for customer-facing channels such as email, paid and organic social media, in-store materials and other promotional and digital deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit copy for emails, social media, in-store materials and other marketing projects
• Create content that follows Hy-Vee's brand voice and style, and adjust it for different channels and audiences
• Brainstorm headlines, social copy, calls to action and other creative ideas
• Work with writers, designers and marketing teams to support campaigns and promotions
• Manage several assignments and meet project deadlines
• Research products, promotions and other topics
• Help the creative team with additional projects as needed

Required profile

• College student majoring in journalism, communications, marketing, advertising, English or a related field, with relevant coursework
• Junior or senior status
• Writing samples or a portfolio showing strong writing skills preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication, creativity, attention to detail and ability to accept feedback
• Ability to work on several projects at once and collaborate with creative and marketing partners

Required skills

• Basic understanding of AP Style
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team
