Consumer Safety Inspector – Food Production

About the role
The Consumer Safety Inspector ensures that food and other ingestible products meet federal safety standards. Working primarily at a single plant in the Dallas District, the inspector may be assigned to any shift or location as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Collect samples of regulated food commodities and perform field tests to detect abnormalities.
- Document findings in written reports and communicate results orally to internal and external stakeholders.
- Recommend corrective actions and verify implementation to maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain effective contacts with production personnel, regulators, and other relevant parties.
- Support annual leave accrual through creditable service and participate in loan forgiveness programs.
Required profile
- At least 52 weeks of experience with regulated food commodities (meat, poultry, fish, eggs, beverages, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to independently carry out routine sampling, testing, and reporting tasks.
- Experience developing clear, concise written reports and presenting findings.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
