Consulting Utility Forester (New Construction Vegetation Planner)

About the role

ACRT, Inc. is seeking experienced professionals who enjoy working outdoors for its Consulting Utility Forester position in Denver, Colorado. The role is contracted for Xcel Energy as a new construction vegetation planner in the Denver metro area. It suits both entry-level and seasoned professionals with a background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation or related fields.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, inspect and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Negotiate line-clearance crew access issues and act as liaison between clients, tree crews and customer

Required profile

• 2-year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or a closely related field, or 2 years of experience in utility vegetation management or a related field instead of a degree
• ISA Arborist, ISA Utility Specialist and/or TRAQ certification strongly preferred
• Vegetation management experience preferred
• Self-motivated, organized and production-oriented, able to manage a geographical area independently
• Comfortable working in varied terrain and inclement weather, with flexible hours including nights and weekends
• Valid driver's license required

Required skills

• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication, multi-tasking and time management

• Base salary range of $25.50 to $29.50 for Colorado residents, depending on terms, location, experience and performance
