Consulting Utility Forester

About the role

ACRT, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is looking for an experienced Consulting Utility Forester in Middletown, NY. The position suits both entry-level and seasoned professionals with a background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation or related fields. It is a full-time regular position.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, inspect and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews
• Negotiate line-clearance crew access issues and act as liaison between clients, tree crews and customer

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Horticulture or a closely related field, or 2 years of experience in utility vegetation management or a related field (vegetation management experience preferred)
• ISA Arborist, ISA Utility Specialist and/or pesticide license preferred
• Self-motivated, organized and production-oriented, able to work independently and manage a geographical area
• Able to work with stakeholders, utility customers and vendors, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable in varied terrain and inclement weather, with flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed
• Valid driver's license required

Required skills

• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred
• Multi-tasking and strong time management

The salary range for New York residents is $20.00 to $48.00, depending on experience, location and performance.
