Consulting Utility Forester

About the role

ACRT, Inc. is looking for experienced professionals who enjoy working outdoors for its Consulting Utility Forester position in Tallahassee, Florida. It suits both entry-level and seasoned candidates with a background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental studies, conservation or related fields. The forester identifies, inspects and evaluates trees and brush along utility lines, reports findings to clients and acts as a liaison between clients, tree crews and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, inspect and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines
• Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
• Negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
• Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews and customer

Required profile

• 2 or 4 year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or a closely related field, or a high school diploma plus 2 years of experience in utility vegetation management or a related field (e.g. right-of-way management, integrated vegetation management, nursery work, timber cutting)
• High school diploma / GED can be waived with 5 years of UVM or related experience
• Strong tree identification skills; ISA Arborist and applicator license preferred
• Self-motivated, organized and production-oriented, able to manage a geographical area independently
• Comfortable working in all weather, in varied terrain, with flexible schedules including nights and weekends
• Valid driver's license required

Required skills

• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication, multi-tasking and time management
• Utility vegetation management experience a plus; utility experience a plus
