Consultant for Disaster Data Mapping in Comoros

About the role

The Department of Economic and Social Affairs seeks an experienced consultant to lead a mapping exercise that will improve data collection mechanisms for disaster-related statistics in the Comoros. The work is home‑based with regular virtual meetings and occasional in‑country visits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a concept note outlining methodology, schedule, and key actors (Output 1).
• Produce a draft disaster data catalogue and profile report, incorporating inputs from national stakeholders (Output 2).
• Present draft findings to stakeholders for review and feedback (Output 3).
• Deliver a final disaster data catalogue with recommendations for standardising data collection and identifying a preferred data‑management platform (Output 4).
• Compile a final progress report with practical steps to build national capacity for SDG 11.5.1 and 11.5.2 reporting (Output 5).
• Participate in regular technical meetings with INSEED, UNSD, UNDRR, DGSC, and other partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and disaster‑risk information.
• Ability to work remotely, coordinate virtual meetings, and travel for in‑country consultations.
• Familiarity with UN statistical frameworks and SDG indicators.
